That’s right, it’s 10 years old and still going strong. There aren’t many bags that can stand the test of time, but the Kriega US-20 is one that has certainly proved its worth.

I purchased the Kriega US-20 in March of 2010 for $129, and that included postage.

It was a few months after I picked up my then-new Kawasaki Ninja 250 SE.

I was preparing for my first long-distance ride from Melbourne to Sydney return and needed some luggage that was easy to fit, waterproof and above all else reliable.

The Kriega fit the bill and the bike perfectly. I ended up purchasing the Kriega US-10 two days later as I needed a bit more storage (I still have that too!)

Since 2010 I’ve used it to go bush strapped to the tail of my DR650, touring and commuting on my CBR954, Speed Triple, ZX9R, CBR600, and Tuono.

Plus the many bikes I’ve test ridden while I was working for AMCN. There’s not a bike I haven’t been able to attach it to, I even found a way to fit it on a KTM RC390.

It has perched, steadily over 300,000 kms through all the hazards the road gods could throw at it and me, and thankfully it’s 100% waterproof.

As for how much can you fit in it? Well, it provides 20L. That could be lots of little things or a couple of big items. If you require more capacity, there are other Kriega expansion packs to suit your set-up.

Is the Kriega US-20 the perfect tail bag? Well, I’m not sure what I would do to improve it if anything it’s proven itself as a very versatile and long-lasting luggage solution. At today’s price of $245, if it lasts you 10 years you are indeed getting your money’s worth.
